Marie Bella Gould

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Bella "Bella" Gould, age 65, who passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by the care and compassion of those who loved her.

Born on June 6, 1961, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Bella was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Gould and Mary Rose (Johnson) Gould.

Bella was predeceased by her loving parents; her brothers, Milton "Bye Bye" Gould, John Sidney Gould, Francis "Rubby" Gould, and James Gould; and her sisters, Frances "Crow" Battiste, Susan Margaret Paul and Janet Takata.

Here to continue holding her memory are her sisters, Joanne Poulette, Madeline “Sugar” Poulette and Mary Estelle Gould. Brothers Oscar Gould, Adam Spencer Gould and Bertram Joseph Gould. Her loving, faithful pet Baby Girl. Godchildren June Margaret Francis, April Doucette, Shelly Battiste, Starr-Ann Francis-Smith, Brett Joe and Sabrina Christmas. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bella had a way of making sure everyone felt cherished and loved. Adopted grandchildren Joel Kabatay, Tayvn Kabatay and Brayven Christmas.

Bella was a dedicated employee of Membertou Public Works, where she took pride in serving her community. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the friendships she built throughout her life. Bella's warmth, generosity, and caring nature touched the lives of many, and she leaves behind countless cherished memories that will forever be held close by her family, friends, coworkers, and community.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Bella's residence, 61 Micmac Crescent, Membertou, on Thursday, August 6, 2026 until Saturday August 8, 2026 where all are welcome to come together to share stories, memories, and offer their condolences.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, with Father Bill Burke officiating. For those unable to attend, to view the service, please visit twcurry.com. Interment will follow at Membertou Memorial Gardens. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather for a salite at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.

Though Bella has left this earthly life, her love, kindness, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
