Mary "Doreen" Sarah Doreen Slade

Born in Millville, Doreen was the daughter of Hilbert and Voila (Rasmussen) Jessome.

She leaves behind a family who adored her: her son Seward (Dawn) Slade, her daughter Gina (Ray) MacDonald, her grandchildren Kaylie Slade (Kyle), Holly (Brody) McCarron and Bradley Carocci who were the light of her life, especially her great grandson William McCarron. Her sisters Judy (Earl) Laffin, Phyllis (Wilson) Mansfield, Anne (Bob) Selfridge and her brother Simon Jessome and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doreen is predeceased by her beloved husband Sonny. Her sisters Alma (Terry) Jerritt and Emma (Dennis) Crosby, and her brother Bunn (Marg) Jessome. sister Mildred in infancy.

Doreen worked at MacGillivray Guest Home for 31 years in the nursing department where she made many lifelong friends throughout the years. She found happiness in spending time with her friends and family. Our hearts are broken, we feel comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who went before her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 7:00 until 9:00pm at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St, Sydney. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 8th at St. Theresa's Church, 381 Whitney Ave., Sydney with Fr. Evo DiPierro offiating. Inurnment to follow in Forest Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA as Doreen had a love for her animals especially her fur baby Sadie who she lost last year.

The family would like to thank her close friend Susie Landry for being such a kind and caring friend to Doreen over the years. Forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
