

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, grandma, sister and aunt Patricia Young (Simon), age 60 on Friday June 5, 2026 at the Inverness Consolidated Hospital. Born in Baddeck, she was the daughter of Susie (Simon) Bernard and Louis Marshall Sr. She was a member of The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Wagmatcook.
She is survived by her sons Andrew Simon (Chynna), Grant Simon (Meagan), Tad Simon (Keneil), and daughter Whitney Robertson (Jesse) and sons by choice Curtis Simon Paul, Herman Pierro (Christina), 18 grandchildren several nieces and nephews and 8 godchildren Miranda, Chantel, Kathy, Joseph, Darcy, Leighton, Theo and Gracie. She is also survived by her siblings Jessie Christmas (Membertou) Mary Simon (Carmen) Sydney, Jackie Drinnan (Vince) Little Narrows, Robert Simon in Wagmatcook, Louis Marshall jr (Marjorie) Eskasoni, aunts Katherine Isadore and Jane Simon and her best friend Connie Stevens.
Besides her parents she is also predeceased by her husband Alfred Young Sr, brothers John A. Simon, Rene Bernard and brother in-laws Roger Christmas Sr and Phil Drinnan.
Patty will be remembered for her kind heart and generous spirit. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, family and friends was unwavering. She had a warm and welcoming personality that made everyone feel comfortable in her presence. She was known for her sense of humour, style, sparkle accessories, compassion, and willingness to help others. She touched the lives of many people throughout her life. She possessed a light and loving energy, a caring nature, and a genuine interest in the well-being of those around her.
Patty's laughter, and loving presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Patty's favourite pastime was playing TV bingo, cards and watching her favourite shows like Price is Right. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff that took good care of her at Inverness Consolidated Hospital. The dialysis unit who she loved dearly. We know how much they will miss Patty's presence and fashion sense. The nurses and staff at Wagmatcook Health Center. She was especially grateful to Elaine Allison and June MacKenzie.
A visitation will take place at the Wagmatcook Elder Center on Fishery Rd. starting at 7pm on Sunday, June 14 and continuing until the mass which will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 16 at Queen of the World Church in Wagmatcook with Fr. Victor Ozonah officiating. Interment in the cemetery and a salité at the Cultural Centre will immediately follow. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
