

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on August 15, 1971, to Joseph and Rachelle (Aucoin) Nugent, Michael was raised in Sydney. He loved to make people laugh and in his youth he loved sports, especially baseball.
As an adult, Michael built a career in the hospitality industry that took him far from Cape Breton. Eventually, that led him to Alberta, where he met his soulmate Sara and built a life around their love and her family.
Michael is survived by his adoring wife, Sara Nugent, and her family, including his stepson, William Stewart (Jason Black); his stepdaughter, Rachel Stewart Enabu (Emmanuel Enabu); his precious granddaughter; and his parents-in-law, Willi and Sharon Schulz. Michael is also survived by his loving mother, Rachelle (Aucoin) Nugent; his brothers, Robert, Donald, Glenn and Ryan; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his many friends in both Cape Breton and Alberta.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Joseph Nugent; and his grandparents, Peter Joseph and Stella (Horyl) Nugent and Joseph and Lucie-Anne (Desveaux) Aucoin.
Michael's legacy of humor, perseverance and resilience will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
Cremation has taken place in Alberta. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St. Sydney. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com
