It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Paula Marie Hines on October 28, 2025. Paula was our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, as well as the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline MacIsaac.
Born on June 30, 1951, Paula was an inquisitive, intelligent, determined and caring individual with varied interests. Growing up in Ashby, Paula was an avid swimmer, lifeguard, and sailor. She was never happier than spending time at her family cottage in Ben Eoin. Some of her other passions included cheering on her favourite teams (Toronto Blue Jays & Maple Leafs), photography, writing (she was a published author), and travelling, having visited over 40 countries. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Paula earned her master’s degree in social work from Dalhousie University and enjoyed helping people in her work. Starting her career in probation, she valued the challenge of helping people to get their lives back on track. Then, she spent most of her career aiding children as a counselor at Child and Adolescent Services.
Paula is survived by her children Allison and Robert; granddaughter Shivaun; sister Donna MacIsaac (Alfred) Dinaut; many nieces and nephews; in-laws Marilyn, Sandra, and Joe Ann; and Gordon, father to her children. Paula was also predeceased by her siblings MJ, Richard, and Claude.
