87 – Coxheath

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a truly wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ronald ‘Rannie’ Aloysius MacDonald passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born December 8, 1926 on French Road, Cape Breton. His birthmother Anne (Gillis) MacDonald passed away shortly after his birth. He was raised by his father, the late John Joe MacDonald and his second mother, the late Annie (Thomas) MacDonald.

Ronald was a veteran of WWII, an engineer, volunteer fireman and an avid golfer for many years. He was well known and respected throughout his community. He was loving and deeply loved by his family and many friends. Memories of his gentle ways and words of wisdom will help us on our way.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma / Sugarplum (Doucette); daughters and sons, Carol (Pat) McAlister, Michigan; Wayne (Marg), Coxheath; Francis (Connie), Halifax; Anne (Kenrod) MacIntyre, Dartmouth; Ronnie – deceased (Sandra), Alberta; Paul, Coxheath; Eddie (Marlene – deceased), British Columbia; Mary, Westmount; Dawn (Carlos) Torrealba, Dartmouth; his 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. . He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Anne /Tootsie (Rinso- deceased) Reginato; Evelyn – deceased (Tommy) Prue; Joan; Rose (David) Absalan; Danny (Carmella) and Angus R. (Lorraine).

Visitation will take place on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will celebrated on Saturday at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
