

Born August 1st, 1930, in Baracoa, Cuba, to Angel Montero and Adelina Simon de Montero. She graduated from the Universidad de la Habana in 1952 with a Doctorate in Pharmacy, married the love of her life, Martin Nieto Cid, in 1954 and immigrated to Tampa in 1965.
She dedicated her life in Tampa to taking care of her family and serving the Hispanic community. Always concerned with helping the less fortunate, she was heavily involved in raising funds through groups like Club 15 and La Casa Cuba which led to her receiving Tampa Hispanic Woman of the year in 1990. She was also an active member of the Cuban Civic Club and wrote for the Spanish Newspaper, Nuevo Siglo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Nieto Cid, sister Maria Montero de Feliu and survived by sisters, Juanita Montero de Diaz, Astrid Montero de Miniet, Adelina (Nina) Montero de Rey, son Martin Eduardo Nieto and his wife Lisa Nieto, grandchildren Martin A. Nieto and Alexandra Nieto
She will be remembered as an extremely proud native of Cuba who was strong in her Catholic faith, always willing to give advice, and provide comfort in times of sorrow. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N. Himes Ave., Tampa, FL 33614 on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:00 am.
