Martinez, Carlos Manuel , born November 3, 1922, passed away on February 29, 2016, at the age of 93. He was a native of Puerto Rico and a long time resident of New York city, where he married Catalina Mercado and raised their family. He was a retired merchant mariner. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Bronze Star recipient.
He is predeceased by his wife Catalina, and daughter Olga Perez. He is survived by his sons Carlos Jr., Emil & Albert Martinez, daughter Cecile Moorer and stepdaughter Aida Carbana, as well as 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, many of which he entertained with love and humor.
Visitation scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2016, 7-9pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2016, 10am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Entombment will follow immediately at Sunset Memory Gardens.
