With love, sadness and peace, the family of Carmen Carrillo shares that she passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. Born on August 5, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY, Carmen lived a life marked with love, perseverance, and a deep sense of family.
Carmen had eight children: John, Ron (deceased), Thirza, Ruben, Jaime (deceased), Brenda, Michael, and Lawrence. Family life was not always simple or easy, but Carmen met each chapter the best she knew how. Her love often showed up in practical ways—food on the table, advice whether asked for or not, a funny comment, or that dazzling smile. Her quick wit and beautiful eyes will always be remembered.
She was blessed with 17 grandchildren: Torin (deceased), Naomi, Jared, Brian, Amanda, Kayla, Marcus, Little Jimmy, Anthony, Joshua, Michael (Bubba), Colin, Jeremy, Victoria, Kristin, Michael, and Kaylin. 12 great-grandchildren: Mysha-Tya, Torren, Tiegan, Dalylah, Riley, Aaron, Andres (deceased), Anastasia, Aurora, Ariyah, Gavin, and Gianni, each bringing their own personality, chaos, joy, and challenges into her world. She also had one brother, deeply loved, Hector, and a niece, Lily.
Carmen was not perfect—she could be stubborn when she believed she was right, and she had her own quiet way of worrying deeply. But she loved her family in ways we understood.
Carmen appreciated simple things—stories from the past, music that reminded her of younger days, and the sound of family gathered in the same room. She was practical, and stronger than she ever gave herself credit for. The lessons she passed on were not grand speeches or profound sayings, but the small, everyday examples of showing up, carrying on, and doing what needed to be done.
She knew loss, disappointment, laughter, pride, fear, and the quiet joy of watching her family grow. She experienced real life in all its beauty and its difficulty, and she leaves behind memories that reflect all of those pieces—the good, the complicated, the funny, the unexpected, and the deeply cherished.
As the family says goodbye, they hold onto the parts of her that live on in them: the determination, the humor, the ability to make something out of little, and the understanding that love is often a mix of words, silence, forgiveness, and trying again.
Carmen will be remembered with honesty, with affection, and with gratitude for the real and unique life she lived—and for the impact she made simply by being who she was.
