The Celebration of Cosette's life was moving and uplifting. I was blessed to be reconnected with Cosette as a Sunset Sister in our Red Hat Ladies' group.  I've added a photo showing our generous, kind, gracious, fun-loving hostess Cosette at the center of a group of us, enjoying our afternoon together in her home. We all miss Cosette deeply but treasure our memories of her.

We just want you all to know that we are thinking and praying for you all during this time.  Cosette was so loved and will be dearly missed, but we celebrate in the fact that we will all be together again one day dancing in God's glory!  Please know that she is healed and rejoicing in heaven.  Her smile is shining as brightly as it did here on earth.  She lives on in your memories and your hearts.  Hold that close on the days that are the hardest, and just imagine her healed and happy in heaven.

Cosette's love for the Lord was truly apparent, from her gentle spirit, to her kind words and sweet smile. 
Putting others before herself was not a burden for her, but a joy.  Cosette always looked on the bright side of everything and never complained.  

I pray the Lord's loving-kindness is ever present as you remember your beloved Cosette.  I look forward to the day when we will be reunited with her in paradise for eternity, and I know the first words Cosette heard when she entered heaven were “Welcome home, good and faithful servant.”

I'm sending your family my deepest sympathy and peace. My prayers are with you. Cosette was my dearest friend. She was such a sweet and kind person, and I cherished the times we spent together. She will greatly be missed. Our 40 year friendship will always be a blessing to me.

While I came to know Cosette as an adult about as well as I could given the distance, my most cherished memories of her are from childhood.  When Co and Elsie were teens, I worshiped both of them.  Elsie introduced me to Johnny Mathis and the pleasures of a rocking chair and singing at the top of my lungs. But Co was the one who helped me with my homework, and as I got older, talked to me of politics and the news of the day, she and Dad and I often a threesome for those discussions. I remember Co as a majorette at Plant High school, practicing her baton in the back yard at Carmen Street. Later she shared much of her story about coming to the states, her memories of my mother from before I was born, and stories of her mother. How we laughed and laughed and laughed. I remember when she was dating John, and I thought she had the handsomest boyfriend, who also drove a really cool Volkswagen bug. How grown up she made me feel when she and John invited me to visit in their very first apartment across the street from Grandmother Alice's house on Carmen Street. We talked about Tupperware and recipes like two housewives. When Ralph and I married and wanted to honeymoon in New England, it seemed natural to visit Co and John in Connecticut while on the trip. How many honeymooning kids would want to spend a weekend with their aunt? But there was no way I would pass up a chance to see my Aunt Co, John and the kids.

As a small tribute, I've uploaded some photos to our family website taken in May 1973 while we were there in Connecticut. One of those I have included here.  If you are a family member and would like to have access to the website, please email me at dwyoho@gmail.com. All of us, including Julie, Laura, John, and Co, looked so young on that day.  For me, this great loss is a reminder of how fast time flies. 

I am bereft, and even today I have not absorbed the idea of a world without Co's smile and zest for life.  I cannot imagine the loss to those who were privileged to be with her every day. Throughout my life, anytime I was with Co it was a vacation, whether we lived in Tampa nearby or not.

The Celebration of Life Service today was wonderful.  We are all very blessed to have been able to attend my beautiful aunt's gathering.  I will always remember my aunt.  She was always there for me and was very loving.  I will definitely miss our long talks, her love, her emails, her many parties, her embrace, and just knowing that she was there.  But, I have to remind myself that she is not only in a better place without pain, but she is still with us in spirit.  I know that she is still with us, as I have had a few signs already.  My aunt was loved by so many and was known by so many as a wonderful lady. It is a very small world when you find out that my husband knew my aunt even before he met her. She was always a very smart, a hard worker, and a very knowledgeable woman.  I miss her deeply here on Earth, but I know that one day that I will see her again in heaven.  I know without a doubt that she is having a party up in heaven with God.  She is looking down on us and saying don't be sad as I am with you each and every day in spirit.  If you are really still and open to the spirit around you, you can see and tell that she is still here with us.  Rest in peace knowing that she has not left us, she is still alive in spirit and is very much still with us.

Kind, Caring, Concerned, Calm.  These are words that come to mind when I think of Cosette.

In our Ladies' Tuesday night Bible study, she shared wisdom from her life's experiences. In the midst of her own health issues, she requested prayer for others.  Her words were encouraging.  She possessed a calmness and confidence that reflected her trust in the Lord.

Cosette and I shared a common vocation of working as Legal Assistants. Though her handwriting was beautiful, I received cards she had written in what appeared to be typed on an old-fashioned typewriter.  While enduring days of neck and arm pain, she typed me an email and at the end she said, “Health is wealth – stay healthy!”

By the way, “cozy”dilorenzo was part of her email address.  I can add the word “cozy” to the list of words that describe her.  For a period of time she sent group emails of humorous or inspirational writings she found on the web – they always made me smile.

Our family is privileged to be a part of the Rojas family Birthday celebrations, particularly for Gabriella.  It was in those settings where we spent time with Cosette and saw her as such an example of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Cosette was a wise and wonderful woman.  I miss her being with us, but rejoice that she has received her healing and is with our Lord.  I will always remember Cosette's smiling face.

Tom and I were were priviliged to have known Cosette. She was a beautiful lady and one of the most courageous people I have ever met.
Cosette always had a beautiful smile and a great personality. I will always remember the optimism, courage and humor she always displayed. 
Of all her admirable qualities I believe her intelligence and love of learning were among her most wonderful qualities.
My fondest memories are of the many hours of conversation when we discussed politics and tried to fix the world.
Of course, it helps that we were always on the same page.
Cosette was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her husband,daughters and grandchildren above all. 
 Tom and I will always remember Cosette with the fondest memories.
Someday we will all enjoy her favorite cuban sandwiches and flan together when we meet again in heaven.

Dear John and family.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I knew Cosette at Plant High School and enjoyed working with her on the reunion committee.  We'll miss her graciousness and sweet smile.  Although I am unable to make it to her celebration of life, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was blessed to have had the privilege to study God's Word with Cosette at TCC's Ladies' Tuesday night Bible study.  Cosette was one of the sweetest, loving, kindest friends I will ever know.  She always had a warm smile and encouraging word to share.  She especially encouraged me in the Truth that God had a good plan for me in the midst of family and my own health challenges.  I will always be thankful to God for using Cosette as His minister of love in my life.  I miss her, but look forward with great HOPE to the day when I will see her again.

In addition to Cosette's ability to remember so much current information etc which put the rest of us to shame, I recall vividly last year's  Christmas party at my home for the Red Hat Ladies.  Cosette came to me shortly before we were going to have brunch and suggested that we might want to include with the blessing, a remembrance of  ladies who had passed away in our group.  I asked if she would like to do just that and it was a very moving time for all of us.  This year we'll be remembering her and what a wonderful addition she has been to all of our lives. There are so many great things I could say about you and all the wonderful things you have done for everyone, but that would fill this whole book and many more.
 
In short, let me just say that you were the greatest daughter to our father and mother.  No wonder they gave you as one of your names, the name Luz.  Luz means light.  You brought brightness everywhere you went, always bringing joy. 
 
You were the most devoted and loving wife to your husband, always there for him.  Your house was always immaculate, nothing was out of place and everything so clean. Your cooking was delicious. There were many, many parties given through the years in your home for family and friends, and always there was plenty of good food, love, joy, laughter, and good conversations. You would also open your home every year for our Red Hat Group get-together event in July, and you would make sure that all the ladies who attended had a wonderful time.
 
You were the best mother to your daughters. You were always there for them, giving good advice and plenty of love.
 
To your grandchildren, you were always there.  I cannot think of any other grandmother who was more attentive, more caring, more loving than you.  You were always taking part in everything they did.
 
You were the most loving aunt to your nieces and nephews.  Always there when needed, always there to guide, give help and lots of love, whether in person, telephone, or e-mail.
 
You were a great sister to our brothers.  Even though living far away, there were many long and loving communications by telephone or e-mails.  
 
To me, you were the most giving, the most caring, the most intelligent, and the best sister that anyone could ever have or hope for.  You were a beautiful person, inside and out, and a lot of people are much better today because of you, including me. It comforts me to know that you are no longer in pain and with the Lord and our loved ones. I will forever miss you and never forget you, Co.

Cosette was such a dear dear friend to both of us.  She accepted us as family, as many of our memories are centered around being with them for birthday, and Christmas celebrations.  She was a very interesting person to talk to, and always had a word of encouragement for where we were in our walk of life....She was such an asset to our bible study on Tuesday evenings, and loved just being with her in so many gatherings, and after church fellowship over coffee. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Her love and relationship with  her husband John, and daughters Laura and Julie and their families was so special to be a part of and watch.  She loved them so much....We will miss her.  And already do..

Cosette was such a wonderful person!  I always enjoyed chatting with her in the backyard of our Brentford home, and when we moved, we stayed in touch via email and chats on Facebook.        Cosette, you were an incredible woman here on earth.  And now, you are an incredible woman up in heaven.  For the past 22 years that I have known you, you have always been thoughtful, kind, and tenderhearted.  You always were thinking of others.  You have a special way of making one feel welcome and loved.  The first time I met you was when Laura invited me over to meet her parents and have dinner.  I can just imagine what you and John must have thought of me back in those days.  Regardless, you made me feel welcomed and it made me fall in love not only with Laura, but with the whole family.   John, on the other hand, you were more than just a little intimidating, but that is John.  I think you have grown to love me...but I know I love you because you have also treated me as a son.

 Cosette, you have always been happy and enjoyed life to the fullest.  Even before I "officially" became your son-in-law in 1996, you made me feel as if I was one of your own children.  After my mother's passing, you helped me deal with my Mom's death by giving me unconditional love.  You allowed me to talk openly about my feelings, and genuinely listened to my concerns.  You always gave me the best advice!

        Cosette, just like the song we danced to at my wedding...you are "Unforgettable!"  You positively touch every life you meet.  I'm a better man, husband, and father because of knowing you (and John).  I have been blessed and honored to call you Mom.

      I love you, Cosette!  I could not have asked for a more loving mother-in-law or as Laura says "mother-in-love".

My aunt Co was a wonderful lady who was always there for anyone who needed her. She was a lady who was very smart, loving, forgiving, giving, and a God fearing woman. For the school year 1959-60, Cosette was one of the girls, I dropped off at their after school jobs before going on to mine.   They each paid me $1 for the service. Big money back then.  Her smile and laughter were contagious.   Only saw her at Plant Hi reunions over the years, but I'll never forget her laughter and her sweet smile.   Sorry to know she is no longer with us, but am certain she rests easy now in the arms of her Lord.  Blessings to her family.

Deepest sympathy to Cosette's family. She was a lovely lady. I remember her so well from Plant High.

One of my favorite memories of Cosette involved her interview in the local newspaper--the Tampa Tribune. They were doing an article on residents who use the Hartline bus system to commute to and from their jobs. And there was Cosette, front and center! She looked so pretty, but was a tad  shy about the feature. When I asked her about it she said, "Oh! I love taking the bus to work.  But I am embarrassed by all the attention." A kind-hearted doll of a gal who had a great sense of humor and made the best of whatever came her way.  Lou and I will miss her very much.  She added warmth and kindness to our lives.

Cassie and I send our condolences to the family from our home in Maryland.  I know that all members of the  Plant High Class of 1960 will also miss her especially during our reunions.  The first picture in the photo gallery is the perfect way to remember her.  Her big smile and her positive attitude were her trademark.  Even though we only saw her at the reunions, since we graduated, Cassie and I are sad at the loss of our classmate.

The world has lost a sweet, kind, funny & loving lady. We will miss her. To all of you our deepest sympathy. She loved you all so much.

A little saying Debbie  use to tell John when  she  worked with him was that Cosette will have many jewels in her crown for putting up with him all these years. I first met Cosette in Tampa when we both lived on North B Street. It must have been "elementary school" or the early junior high age as we neighborhood kids played hide and seek, Red Rover and other games and climbed trees. It was so  great to reconnect at the Plant High reunions years later.

She was a sweet and lovely person and more recently, I enjoyed her shared postings on Face Book. I will miss seeing her again, but I will treasure remembering her. God rest my friend!

My dear friend Laura,
I kept trying to think of the “perfect words” to say to you that would bring you peace and comfort. And then the Lord prompted me to remember how much love and peace I felt with every card and letter I opened after my father passed away. It didn't matter what words were in them, just that they were delivered to me and I could feel the love behind them. So I won't take time trying to say just the right thing….since there's really nothing that can fully prepare you for what I know you must be feeling right now, or fully comfort you outside of God's love that I'm sure is holding you up.

I will share with you what I've learned since my father's passing, and trust that you can find some comfort and hope in it. I've learned how strong I really am, and how much I do rely on God. I've learned that neither time nor death can take away the blessings that have already occurred in our life, including the beautiful memories of the relationships in our lives. I've learned that there are truly important things in this life… like being there for one another and sharing the joys and the sorrows that this life holds, and not losing sight of that in the bustle of every day life. Your Mom was prime example of this to me. No matter how much time had passed since I'd talked to her last, she was always there for those important life moments. I've learned that in all trials, there is a trace of good that's left behind and we often can't see it when we're staring it in the face. I've learned that no matter how complicated, messy, joyful, frustrating and intense our relationship is with our parents, it is superseded by a deep-rooted love that knows no boundaries. And most of all, I've learned how much God must truly love us… to give us such a perfect gift in the form of our family.

In the days that come, please know that I will be taking these life lessons to heart and recalling them in my prayers as I ask God to give you, Panch,John and the rest of your family the peace that you need for the day. Dear John, Laura, Pancho and family;
My wife Carol and I had the pleasure to know Cosette for only a short while, but like seeing a beautiful flower garden....she left a wonderful memory because of her kindness and Godly nature.  My wife Carol was always encourage when she spoke to Cosette, and Cosette reminded me of my Godmother Concetta Guido in Chicago.  May God comfort you in your loss.

Cosette always had a kind smile and a word of encouragement that would come pouring forth in our times of need.  Her heart was so full of Christ's love... her testimony was her life.  She loved her family and always had a special place in her heart for the love of her life...John.  It was a pleasure to know her and to be blessed by her company.  We are sad that she is gone..but grateful to the Lord for not having her suffer anymore.  We can't imagine the hole that her passing has left in the life of her loved ones...and will lift them up as they find their way through this time of grief.

It was a joy & a privilege to worship along with Cosette on Sundays. I will miss her warm smile & beautiful face. May the Lord hold you especially close during this time & may you take comfort in the knowledge that you will see her again in Heaven.

Our loss is Heaven's gain. We were priviledged to have known her.

I loved Cosette, her smile always made me happy!  She had such a sweet, gentle, caring way about her. Then one night I experienced her wonderful sence of humor and that was one more thing I could add to the list of things I adored about her.  I will miss you Cosette, but I know we will have lovely chats one day in Heaven.  My love and prayers are going up for your family.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, Cosette  was a truly beautiful and special person and a privilege for me to have known, she was an awesome and inspirational lady, every time I think of her I picture her smiling and that is how I will always remember her, she had a smile and her words of encouragement would ease all your worries away.
