In 1955, Dora and her two young children, Skip and Tony, boarded the ship Olympia and traveled from their homeland across the Atlantic Ocean to reunite with her husband, Andreas, who had come to the United States five years earlier. Dora and her family resided in New York and she became a proud United Citizen in 1962. In 1963, the family relocated to Tampa, Florida.
She was employed for many years and retired from the Hillsborough County School System, where she worked as a cafeteria staff employee at Monroe Middle School in Tampa. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church over 62 years, and sang in the choir for many of those years. She had a strong faith and was very proud of her Greek Cypriot heritage.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Andreas Koudouna; son-in-law, Stan Higdon; daughter-in-law, Lucina Radd; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Antonis and Panayiota Nicolaou; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Zen Anthony and Mimi Anthony.

A special thank-you goes to her nurses and staff at the Tierra Pines Center in Largo.
“Do not regret my passing for my body was weary, my heart tired; smile for me that I have found peace in my Lord’s arms and I am with my beloved ones in Heaven.”
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 27th, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., in Tampa. Church services will be held on Tuesday, October 28th, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 Swann Ave. in Tampa, with Orthros and Divine Liturgy at 9:15 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:15 a.m. Father Stavros Akrotirianakis will officiate the services.
