Doris E. Szymanski, 93, died peacefully with family on October 12, 2018 at the Melech Hospice House in Tampa. Born December 1, 1924 in Wilmington, Delaware. Doris passed just eight short months after the love of her life, Leon A. Szymanski. Leon and Doris E. Green were wed in 1943, and they were married nearly 75 years.
Doris was one of four children, who all moved from Wilmington Delaware to semi-retire in New Port Richey in the early 70s. When her husband became ill, she became his number one nurse and continued taking care of him when they moved to Tampa in 2012. Strong willed and independent until the end, she is able to join her loving husband Leon and they can be at peace.
She is survived by her children, daughter Sharon Krewson, son Lee Szymanski, grandson Stephen (Ronda) Parag, “second daughter” Leigh (Ken) Skeens, a total of five grand children, seven great grand children and two great great grand children. She is also survived by sister, Mitz Chiz.
Doris Szymanski will be cremated and buried next to her husband in a private ceremony at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
