IN THE CARE OF

Blount & Curry Life Event Center

George Arden Smith of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. He was born October 26, 1936, in Rochester, Michigan, to Fay Earl and Mae Elizabeth Holt Smith.

George grew up in Washington, Indiana where he enjoyed raising chickens and rabbits, and hunting and fishing with his father and brother. After high school he worked as an X ray technician before joining the U.S. Army, where he served with distinction and rose to the rank of Captain. He later moved to Tampa to attend the University of Tampa, where he met his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Miles.

For more than 40 years George proudly worked in paper and packaging supply. A longtime member of Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, Tampa Yacht & Country Club and Ye Mystic Crew of Gasparilla, he enjoyed playing tennis, fishing and spending countless hours in his yard creating a backyard oasis complete with a koi pond. Above all, George’s greatest joy was spending time with his daughter, son-in-law and three grandsons.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Patricia; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Smith; his daughter, Melissa Smith Carlson (Erik); and grandsons William Arden Carlson, Samuel Smith Carlson and Matthew Evan Carlson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Fay Smith and sister-in-law, Jaqueline Miles Atkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to LifePath Hospice -- Gold Team, 12470 Telecom Drive. Suite 301, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
