On Saturday, October 10, 2020 Helen A. O’Connor, a loving grandmother, mother, and wife passed away at the age of 85. Helen was born on September 17, 1935 in Schumacher, Ontario, Canada. She attended Indiana University from 1954 to 1958 and graduated with her bachelor’s in education and master’s degree in English. On July 6, 1957, she married James Francis O’Connor her college sweetheart in which they were married for 43 years until he passed. Helen was a devoted Catholic who taught at Morning Star Catholic School where she had a passion for teaching students from all walks of life, especially with learning disabilities and special needs. With the love of her colleagues and students she committed over 20 years to teaching at Morning Star. Aside from her professional life, she dedicated her life to raising her daughter Colleen, and two grandsons: Tyler and Kelvin. Helen loved the natural beauty of life and spent time going to the beach and collecting seashells at Redington Shores and loved feeding the animals in her backyard. She also enjoyed watching sports as the Green Bay Packers were her favorite team and loved watching the tennis grand slam tournaments, and figure skating. Helen is survived by her daughter Colleen Hunyh, and two grandsons: Kelvin and Tyler Tseh.
