Her mother told her doctor she thought JoAnn was dragging her heels to be delivered, and could anything be done to speed things up. The doctor suggested a big dose of castor oil might help so her mother tried it and it worked. The next day JoAnn arrived, and joined her big family of uncles, aunts and cousins. Her mother swore she would never drink castor oil again.
She was fully dedicated to the education of young people and spent her entire devoted career in Education. She grew up in very modest means in rural Kentucky and took her career to the highest level. Her fondest memories of working was at Hillsborough Community College in various compacities from the Director of Humanities/Counselor/Advisor/Teacher that resulted in life-long friends! She earned various degrees from Western Kentucky University, Xavier University, University of Florida and doctorate from Florida State University. She taught English and Art in Northern Kentucky before moving to Florida in 1974. Her grandchildren will always remember her insistence on reviewing, correcting and recorrecting all essays or reports before submitting them at school, of course in red pen as the teacher she was forever.
JoAnn loved to travel, eat out, play board games, and visit with friends, and go and do. Her hallmarks were her compassion, love, humor, support, fun, and devotion to family and friends.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Joel Weaver (Juliana) of Waynesville, NC and her daughter Nancy Del Rosal (Joseph) of Tampa, FL and four grandchildren (Madison and Bradley Weaver) and (Andrew and Matthew Del Rosal).
