Tampa, Florida- Mark Kevin Serre, loving husband, father of two, and grandfather of five, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 66, with his wife and son by his side. Mark was born on December 20, 1954 in Downey, California. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He moved to Florida in 1980 to marry his wife, Rachel (Gadoury) Serre, and recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Before retiring in April, Mark was a homebuilder, as well as a former Boy Scout Leader, baseball, basketball and soccer coach. Mark was also a brother of the Knights of Columbus. Three months ago, Mark and his wife moved to Tampa, FL from Ormond Beach to be closer to their grandchildren. Mark was preceded in death by his father Gerald Serre, his mother Dorothy Vine, and his father-in-law James Gadoury. He is survived by his loving wife Rachel, daughter Stephanie Slechta, her husband Sterling and their son Asher from Syracuse, NY, son Nicholas Serre, his wife Jessica and their children Gabriel, Madeleine, Andrew and Arielle, his sister Lisa Hazard of Idaho, plus numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and his large extended family. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 North Florida Avenue Tampa, Florida. A celebration of life reception will be held following the funeral service at 4:00 P.M. at the Seminole Garden Center, 5800 North Central Avenue Tampa, Florida. Interment will be held on October 15, 2021 at 9 A.M. at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Road, St. Petersburg, Florida.
