Miriam Brown Tucker, 86, died peacefully on October 29, 2018 in Tampa. Miriam was born in Alma, Ga. on October 11, 1932 to Anna Belle & Joseph Riley Brown. She studied at Emory University, became a Registered Nurse and worked in the operating room at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Miriam was pre-deceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Lt. Colonel Kiefer G. Tucker, Jr & is survived by their children Kiefer G. Tucker, III, (Lora Tucker), Leigh Ann Tucker & Mary Ann Porter (Gale Porter, Jr.); grandchildren, Gale Porter III, Griffin Porter & Camryn Porter. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, dominoes, & card games, but traveling the world was her favorite thing to do. Miriam made worldwide news in 2012 as “The Diamond Lady” after swallowing a 1 karat diamond at a charity event. She appeared on the David Letterman Show in NYC & reluctantly enjoyed her famous status. Miriam was a true Southern lady; kind & gracious to all she knew. We will miss her sweet smile & beautiful blue eyes. Heartfelt thanks go out to her doctor's & caregivers who treated her with respect, dignity & love. We will be forever grateful. Services shall take place at Hyde Park United Methodist Church on Sunday November 11th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TGH Grateful Patient Program in her honor.
