96, of Tampa, passed away on April 13th, 2016. A native of Adrian, Georgia, she was born on a farm in 1919 to Oscar and Veta Barwick and was one of nine children. After high school, she attended nursing school in Macon and upon graduation became a registered nurse. Like so many during that era, she came to Tampa during WWII and worked at what then was MacDill Field Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered as a selfless, kind, gentle and giving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Nellie volunteered for many years delivering food to shut-ins with Meals on Wheels and was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served well into her later life on the Altar Guild. Nellie is predeceased by her husband, David M. Pearce. She is survived by her step-daughter, Nancy Pomar (Gilbert) of Jacksonville; daughter, Mary Nell McLauchlin (Ed Ferko) of Canton, Georgia; son, George McLauchlin (Diane); and son, David H. Pearce (Linda), all of Tampa. In addition, she has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 15th from 6-8pm at Blount & Curry, 605 S. MacDill in Tampa. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 16th at 12 noon at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 509 East Twiggs in Downtown Tampa. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Foundation, Lifepath Hospice, or to a charity of your choice.
