Robert W Grant

Robert’s professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. He began his career as a firefighter and later served as a fire investigator, dedicating himself to public safety and the protection of others. His expertise and leadership eventually led him to serve as CEO of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), where he played a pivotal role in advancing fire safety standards nationwide.

Beyond his work in fire services, Robert pursued entrepreneurial and humanitarian endeavors with equal passion. He owned Exoticus II Plant Nursery, combining his love for nature with business acumen. His compassion extended into his role as Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice, where he supported individuals and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Additionally, he served as CEO of the Central Florida Humane Society, advocating for animal welfare and leading efforts to improve the lives of countless animals.

Robert also served his country with honor in the Navy Reserves for eight years, demonstrating his lifelong dedication to service. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cindy; sons Robert and William; daughters Susan and Karen; brother William; fifteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and William; sister Kathleen; former wife Wanda, and son Daniel. Robert had great love for his extended family and friends including his in-laws, special nieces and nephews, and brother and sister in-laws and friends that became family.

Robert W. Grant’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication—to family, community, country, and causes close to his heart. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Gathering will be held on May 24, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway. Memorial Visitation from 2:00 and 3:00pm with Celebration of Life/Memorial at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, consider planting a tree through Arbor Day Foundation in his memory or a donation to charity of your choice.
