

Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Sheila Ann Saddow (nee McCarthy), 86, was called home to our Lord on Wednesday November 15, 2023. The youngest of seven children, she was born on September 17, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Daniel and Amelia McCarthy.
She met the love of her life Edward M. Saddow, Jr. when she was fifteen years old at a high school dance. They married in 1959 and ultimately settled in Livingston, New Jersey where they raised their three children. Sheila was extremely proud of her children and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. In addition to taking care of her family, she loved listening to music, dancing, going to the beach, bowling, crocheting, and cheering on the New York Giants.
Sheila was an active member at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Roseland where she was a rosarian and longtime member of the church choir. While with the choir, she sang at the Vatican and shook hands with Pope Saint John Paul II. Sheila gave of her time freely and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Barnabas Hospital for over fifteen years. She was blessed with an amazing and large circle of friends that she was in touch with until the very end of her life on this earth.
In 1998, she retired with her husband to Englewood, Florida where she made many new friendships and spent her time reading, walking, playing cards, cooking and golfing. Sheila continued serving others as a Stephen Minister where she provided emotional and spiritual support for people in need. She continued to be a Eucharistic Minister. After the passing of her soulmate on February 28, 2014, she moved to Tampa Florida to be close to her family. She lived with her son Stephen and his family for many years where they took amazing care of her. She enjoyed the last two years at Discovery Village at Westchase where she made new friends including so many amazing staff members who loved her until her final breath.
She is survived by her adoring children, David Saddow, of Caldwell, NJ; Dr. Stephen Saddow and his wife Vaine of Tampa, Florida; Dr. Eileen Voltz and her husband Dr. Matthew Voltz, of Wilmington, DE. Her legacy will continue in her three cherished grandchildren Luca Saddow, Sophia Saddow and Daniel Voltz. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews, great nieces and nephews and three great-great nephews.
Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Edward, her parents and her siblings George, Mary, Daniel, Claire, Catherine, and Helen.
Sheila was a woman of incredible faith and would want everyone to feel peace as she is now in the arms of her Savior and reunited with all who went before her. She will be dearly missed and her bright memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Incarnation Catholic church, 5124 Gateway Dr., Tampa, Fla 33615. Interment will be held privately at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Florida.
