William Jackson Withrow Sr.

William Jackson (Jack) Withrow, Sr. passed away at home on Monday February 15, 2016. Jack was the son of Homer William Withrow and Marjorie Ellen Cales Withrow. He was born on February 27th 1940 in Charleston WV. He spent most of his youth in Beckley and Hinton WV. Jack graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1958 and attended Duke University where he was a member of the Football and track teams. Jack is predeceased in death by his wife Mary Dunn Withrow and daughter Elizabeth Marchman Withrow. He leaves behind his son William Jackson (Jack) Withrow, Jr; granddaughters Alden Elizabeth Withrow and Caroline Dunn Withrow and their mother Laura Stokes Withrow; sisters Marjorie Ellen Withrow Williams and Kathryn Vance Withrow Cannatella; nieces and nephews, Catherine Dunn Ford, Alexandra Elizabeth Watson, Lee Thomas Ford and Ansley Watson III. Jack was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, and former member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. Jack loved to fish, play golf and hunt. He loved his Duke Blue Devils and his luncheons with his buddies at Palma Ceia and the Press Box. Services will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at 3:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lifepath Hospice or St. Andrew’s Episcopal in Jack’s memory.
