Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Visitation will be an hour prior from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Private burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Alan was born May 2, 1936, in Houston, Texas, to Oke William and Marjorie Elsie (Day) Muller. He grew up in Houston and attended Poe Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School, and Lamar High School. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. He went on to study at Grace Theological Seminary earning a Master of Divinity degree in 1969.
He built a distinguished career in engineering and earned the designation of Professional Engineer. He eventually started his own company, Stress Technology, which provided engineering services primarily to the petrochemical industry. He later sold the company and continued his engineering career working for various companies, including some in the aerospace industry, until his retirement.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Alan devoted many years to Bible study and teaching. He was active in evangelism, taught Sunday School, and served in the J.A.I.L. Ministry in Belton. He attended Temple Bible Church, which he considered his church home. He especially enjoyed reading the Bible in Greek and Hebrew and dedicated many meaningful hours to theological study.
On September 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, LaVerne Joyce Jez, in Temple, Texas. They shared many devoted years together, and moved to Milton, Georgia in August of 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Patsy Muller; and brother-in-law, John Jez.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, LaVerne Joyce (Jez) Muller of Milton, Georgia; his daughter, Rachel Milling and husband Kirk of Milton, Georgia; his brother, Stephen C. Muller of Bandera, Texas; his grandchildren, Hunter Milling and wife Caitlin of Plano, Texas; Hayden Milling and wife Kate of Oxford, Mississippi, and Austin Milling of Milton, Georgia; and one great-grandchild, Walker Cole Milling.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Milling, Kirk Milling, Hayden Milling, and Austin Milling
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Alan’s name to City of Temple Animal Shelter or J.A.I.L Ministry Inc.
