Alice Mae Owens of Troy, TX passed away on Wednesday, March 18th at the age of 88. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who leaves a large legacy of family and friends. She was able to stay in her home until she passed, aided by her dear friend Maria Hernandez and her amazing daughter-in-law Dana Owens.
Born to Hubert and Jenny Mowbray on January 29, 1938, in Durango, Colorado, Alice was the only girl among six children. She grew up with five brothers: Kenneth, William, Cecil, Larry, and Calvin, all of whom have since passed away. She met the love of her life, Ron Owens in Durango and married him in 1958 until his death in 2017. In their 58 years of marriage, they raised three children, Valerie, Jody, and Doug. While Alice had various jobs selling life insurance, serving as the Northside Church of Christ secretary, and as an office manager at C&H Diecasting, her primary calling was raising her three kids and being a devoted wife.
Alice was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ for nearly 50 years. Her church family meant more to her than words could express, and she deeply valued the unwavering support a loving congregation provides through both good times and bad. She held a special place in her heart for the ministers who served the believers in Temple so faithfully over the years, including H.I. Taylor, Darrell Knight, and Paul Merideth.
Alice was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had three beautiful granddaughters, Audrey, Erin, and Jenna and three wonderful grandsons Travis, Tyler, and Zander. Her great-grandchildren Jade, Jolee, and Julien brought her much joy these last few years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, and her 5 brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Valerie Malone and husband, Mickey of Paige and their children Tyler and Erin; two sons, Jody Owens and wife, Dana of Temple and their children Audrey and husband Justin (great grandchildren Jade, Jolee, and Julien) and Travis; and Doug Owens and wife, Shannon of Cedar Park and their children Jenna and Zander. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-laws Mary Beth Burgess and Rebecca Wright and numerous nieces and nephews.
