
Alois William "Louis" Pechal was a good man who touched the lives of many. We are grateful to God for the gift of Alois for 83 years. We will see him again when we meet in heaven. He passed away with his loving wife Rosa by his side on Monday, January 19, 2015. Alois was born January 12, 1932 in Little Flock, Texas to Rosalie Hlavaty Pechal and William Pechal. Alois was the oldest child and had 4 brothers and 2 sisters who lived in East Bell County and farmed as a family. Louis attended school at Little Flock, Seaton and was a graduate of Temple High School. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and honorably served his country. Louis married Rosa Lee Stoebner on April 23, 1956. They were married for 58 years and lovingly raised four children. Louis worked for the City of Temple Water Department, Goodyear in Temple, then moved to the Houston area where he worked for Rainbo Bread and the U.S. Postal Service. The family moved to Killeen where Louis continued his career as a letter carrier. He returned to Temple and retired with 35 years as a city letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Louis was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cyclone. He was active in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight with council #3444 in Temple, and 3rd degree council #10186 of Cyclone. He was a member and former officer of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #47 and American Legion #133. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Albert Pechal. He is survived by his wife and four children: Thomas and Dawn Pechal of Temple; Kenneth and Katherine Pechal of Leedale; Peggy and Bill Shaffell of Temple; and Dale and Nancy Pechal of Ratibor. He is survived by nine grandchildren and spouses: Amanda and Mark Chasteen; Bill Shaffell and fiancee Lara Leigh Serafin; Allison and Tyler Gerrard; Bethany Pechal and Eric Saldana; Kelli Pechal; Sarah and Stiles Parker; Lindsey Pechal; Rachel Pechal; and Nicholas Pechal. He is survived by three great-grandchildren Derek, Cassie and Mya. Louis is survived by three brothers, two sisters and spouses: Andrew and Linda Pechal; Glenda Pechal; Arnold and Francis Pechal; Anton and Carole Pechal; Martha Tomlinson; and Margaret and Tom Gibson. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation and Rosary will be at Scanio Harper Funeral Home in Temple, on January 22nd. Visitation will be from 6 pm - 7 pm. Rosary wlll be held at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Cyclone, Texas on Friday, January 23rd, 10 AM. After the funeral mass, burial services will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
