Bob Daniel Sanford, 77, went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2022. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Bob was born on March 19, 1945 to Ross and Mary Ella Sanford in Carthage, Texas. He was the youngest of six siblings. He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1965 and proudly served our country until he was honorably discharged in October 1971. Throughout his time, he served in the Vietnam War and received the following decorations: Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Marksman on both rifle and pistol.
While in the service, Bob met Kathleen. Throughout their years of marriage, they were blessed with two beautiful girls. Being a father was Bob’s biggest joy. His dedication to his girls was unmatched and recognized by everyone. Later on Bob got to add two sons and he truly loved them like they were his own. Bob cherished the relationships he had with his four grandchildren and was immensely proud of all of them.
Bob loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Texas Longhorns, and TCU Horned Frogs. If he wasn’t inside watching football, he could be found outside drinking his coffee and picking pecans or getting a tan. Bob was also an avid Harley Davidson fan.
Bob is deeply missed by his daughters and son-in-laws, Kim and Chip Thomas of Temple, TX and Kelli and Rick Moore of Rockwall, TX; his grandchildren, Taylor Moore, Morgan Thomas, Peyton Moore, and Jonathan Thomas; his brother James Sanford, sister-in-law Dorothy Sanford, brother-in-law James Oudkirk, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Mary Ella Sanford; brothers, Clarence Sanford and R.W. Sanford; sisters, Rosemary Oudkirk and Patsy Richards; and seven nieces and nephews.
The family wants to thank William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home and their employees for providing Bob with a wonderful home that he loved for 10 years.
A graveside service with military honors for Bob will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, TX 76541.
