Mrs. Welter died Friday at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Welter was born February 9, 1921, in Lockport, Illinois to Matteo Costenero and Maria Miglioretto Costenero. She married Franklin Henry Welter February 19, 1946. He preceded her in death December, 2003. She moved to Temple, from Port Arthur in 2004. She was very active in promoting Catholic Education at St. Mary School and Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur and was active with the Bishop Byrne Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a homemaker and had worked at American Can in Rockdale, Illinois. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church where she was active in the Women’s Society.
Survivors include one daughter Mary Louise McEachern of Temple; one son Franklin Robert (Buddy) Welter and his wife Carol of Houston; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Building Fund, Temple Humane Society or to charity of choice.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday with Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
