

Cecil Claud Perry, age 99, of Temple, Texas passed away on December 15, 2011. Perry was born on July 17, 1912 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of John Thomas Perry, Jr. and Mamie Clyde Castle Perry. Perry graduated from high school in Atlanta and then graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in 1941. He married the love of his life, Dorothy R. Warnock of Atlanta. They ran off to Heflin, Alabama to marry on April 12, 1936. They were married for 55 years before she passed away on December 12, 1991. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, entering the army as a private and leaving the service as a Master Sargent when the war was over. He served in the retaking of the Philippine Islands with the Headquarters Battery 624th Field Artillery Battalion. After the war Perry went to work for the Department of Agriculture as an auditor. He retired as the Assistant Regional Inspector General in 1976 after 30 years of service. Perry was the father of three sons who survive him, John C. Perry and wife Sandra of Salado, James F. Perry and wife Mary Sue of Belton, and Thomas C. Perry and wife Marsha of Troy. He is survived by two grandchildren, Mandy Agee and husband Joey of Temple and Lindy Thompson and husband Jeremy of Temple. He is also survived by a step granddaughter, Jennifer Dixon and husband Eric of Salado. He was blessed to have had nine great grandchildren, Jacob Thompson, Adam Burke Agee, Landry Agee, Grace Thompson, Joe Agee, Luke Thompson, Brinley Kate Agee, and Danny Agee, all of Temple and Hannah Hudson of Salado. Perry was a 47 year member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Temple. The family wishes to thank, for the brief but excellent care given to him by, VistaCare Hospice and Cornerstone Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations be made in his name to VistaCare Foundation, 2626 South 37th Street, Temple, TX 76504 or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2407 W. Ave P, Temple, TX 76504. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Shuler officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Funeral Home.
