Charles E. Newman

Charles E. Newman, age 77 of Belfalls, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 4th at Oenaville Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Belfalls Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, December 3rd at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Newman was born July 28, 1938 in Eagle Springs to Gus Edward Newman and Ethel Lawrence Newman. He graduated from Troy High School. He farmed in the Belfalls area for many years. He was a member of Oenaville Baptist Church.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Newman and two brothers, Leo “Buster” Newman and Sam Newman. Survivors include three sons, Billy Joe Newman and wife, Kim of Troy, Charles Ray Newman and wife, Kay of Troy, and Micky Newman of Belton, stepchildren, Michael Pitts and wife, Hazel of Lorena, Gary Pitts of Belton, Trish Powell and husband, Glenn of Belfalls, Edith Durham and husband, Dale of Alpena, AR, and Terry Pitts and wife, Dana of Morgan’s Point Resort, 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Lillie Mae Pitts of Eagle Springs.Pallbearers are Jason Pitts, Kevin Pitts, Cory Pitts, Chris Pitts, Matthew Newman, Josh Newman, Zach Newman, Dillon Newman, David Ellis and Billy Hicks.
