Charles Travis Wylie, age 77, of Belton, Texas, formerly of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at a local hospital. He was born on May 14, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to O. Travis Wylie and Lillie Wylie.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A man of deep faith and abundant talent, he was both an evangelist and an avid musician who used his gifts to inspire and uplift others. Alongside his beloved wife, Thelma, Charles spent 25 years in Tallahassee, Florida, where they served as property managers at Greenwood Estates, leaving a legacy of dedication and community spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Wylie of Belton, and by his children: Tracy Wylie, Teri Garcia and husband Miguel, and Trina Rios and her husband Edgar, all of Austin, Minnesota; Jeanie Bowes and her husband Lenny of Temple; Carolyn Titus and her husband Larry of Belton; Penny Ott and her husband Michael of Waco; Pam Hinojosa and her husband Richard of Temple; Matt Beard and his wife Tammy of Temple; and Mark Beard and his wife Lisa of Weatherford. Charles is also survived by his sisters Linda Wylie of Lockhart, Mary Haddock of Lytton Springs, and Myrtle Cardwell of Luling; his brother Buddy Pearson of Luling; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his legacy forward.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Pearson; father, O. Travis Wylie; stepfather, Maurice Pearson; daughters Mary and Tammy Guthrie and sons Johnny Beard, Jr and Elijah Beard.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, located at 3110 Airport Rd., Temple, Texas. A graveside memorial service will take place the following morning on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bellwood Memorial Park Pavilion.

Charles Wylie’s life was marked by service, music, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
