

David L. Webb, age 80 of Moffat, died Friday, June 17, 2016 in a local care center. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, June 24th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Easterling and Rev. Judy Gotcher officiating. David was born on June 30, 1935 in Trion, Georgia to Eugene and Jewell Price Webb. He grew up in Summerville, Georgia. His father joined the Army and the family relocated to Killeen where he graduated from Killeen High School in 1952. He enlisted and served for nine years in the Naval Reserve while working for Texas Power and Light Company in Temple. On April 1, 1963, David was appointed an agent for State Farm Insurance Agencies. During his 41 years with State Farm he accomplished many accolades and enjoyed serving his clients and community. He was very proud of his career with State Farm, allowing him to make many lifelong friends. He retired in 2004 due to health issues. He married the former Sharon Niswanger on April 23, 1983 at Memorial Baptist Church in Temple. He loved hunting and fishing and was on a men’s bowling team for many years. He also enjoyed his weekly poker night with his poker buddies for over 45 years. He loved spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, trips to Disney World with his grandchildren and enjoyed special times with his great-grandchildren. He and his grandson spent many happy times on their deer lease. He loved playing with his fur baby, “Sadie”. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lane Webb and one sister, Virginia Webb. Survivors include his wife, Sharon L. Webb of Moffat, son, David L. Webb, Jr. of Temple, daughter, Jana Foster of Moffat, granddaughter, Amy Foster of Moffat, grandson, Ryan Foster of Lockhart and two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Nathan and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are his poker buddies; Gary Janacek, Lee Smith, Eric Hoag, Calvin Shenkir, John Jeanes and Bill Bogucki. The family would like to extend special thanks to Baylor Scott & White ICU and 4th floor south and the Senior Care of Weston Inn in Temple. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
