

Don Edward Bacon Jr., age 74, of Temple, TX passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at his home in Temple. He was born on December 9, 1950 in Chattanooga, TN. He was the son of Don Edward Bacon, Sr and Hazel (Raines) Bacon.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504.
Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery 11463 TX-195 Killeen, TX 76542.
Being a child with a parent in the armed forces, he got the privilege of traveling all over Europe. Mount Vesuvius, Venice, and the Vatican were only a few of the places he got to visit throughout his childhood.
Don graduated high school 1968 from Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Graduated Tarleton College in 1989 with Bachelor’s in construction.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served the United States Army for a total of 6yrs. He worked at Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRSC) for a total of 27 years before retiring on December 31, 2011. Don’s happy place has always been fishing. He loved spending time on his boat fishing with Brian, Riley, and Cliff. In his later years, he spent most of his weekends at the baseball field watching his grandson, Berkley. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.
On February 4, 1972 Don married Margie Ivey and recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife Margie Bacon of Temple, son Brian Bacon and girlfriend Shay Veal of Little River-Academy, daughter Brittney (Bacon) Fuentes and husband AJ Fuentes of Temple, grandchildren, Cylar Fuentes, Berkley Fuentes, and Kaitlin Veal, and a great grandchild Zhiyarri Veal. Don is also survived by a brother Michael Bacon and wife Tricia of Florida, sisters Linda Stoehr and husband David of Granbury, and Cheryl Bell and husband Jerry of Mesquite, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Hazel Bacon
