

Donald Wayne Maples, 74, of Temple died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Maples was born February 24, 1939 in Fort Worth to Jack and Dorothy Maples. He graduated from High School and attended College in the Fort Worth area. He lived in the Gatesville and Temple area most of his life. He married Virginia Sebren September 21, 1983. He worked as a Radio Broadcaster and Disc Jockey for KTEM and KTON in Temple and Belton and, KPEP and KRYL in Gatesville. He was the Sports Color Announcer for Temple Sports on KTEM. He then became a prison guard at the Hughes Unit in Gatesville and retired from that position. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church in Gatesville and a member and supporter of Sammons Senior Center. Survivors include his wife Virginia Maples of Temple; his children Pamela Maples Cooper and her husband Todd of Lampasas, Paul Maples of Lampasas, Sandra Evans of Temple and John David Moss of Austin; his mother Dorothy Crowley of Arlington and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scott and White Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
