

Edna Riley, age 86 of Temple, died Friday, April 20, 2018 in a local care center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28th at Foundation United Methodist Church. Edna Estelle Riley was born in Hamilton, Texas June 8, 1931, to Edgar and Iula Raibourn. She attended Blue Ridge Elementary School, graduated from Hamilton High School, and attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. She married Jack Riley on December 25, 1952. Edna was a fine homemaker, Pastor’s wife and mother. In addition she was an accountant and owned Polar Bear-Ashburn Ice Cream Store. She was the administrator of First United Methodist Church, Temple. Her husband was a United Methodist minister so Edna lived in thirteen different places before finally having a permanent home in Temple, Texas, where she and her husband had served First United Methodist Church for over twelve years. Edna is survived by her husband, Jack of Temple, son, Robert of Temple, and daughter, Michelle Williams and her husband Steve of Spring Branch, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She will also be remembered by many friends from the churches they served as well as friends from her places of employment. She was predeceased by one daughter, Lynn Nichols, her parents, seven siblings, and four sisters-in-law. Edna and her husband were “Founding Pastors” of Foundation United Methodist Church, located at 10701 West Adams Avenue, Temple, Texas.
