Edward R. Klisiewicz

Edward R. Klisiewicz, 89, (USMC Ret.) of Temple, formerly of Monson, Massachusetts died Sunday, July 1, 2007 in a Temple hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born July 17, 1917 in Webster, Massachusetts to John and Agnes Markowska Klisiewicz and was raised in Monson, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1939 as a private at Springfield, Massachusetts and was promoted through all the enlisted ranks and during the Korean War in 1952 was promoted to Lieutenant. He was attached to a aircraft transport squadron as an engineering officer in Japan and the Korean War. Lt. Klisiewicz was awarded numerous war time medals during World WarII with service in the South Pacific Ocean area and later during the Korean War. He was on K-6 Airfield in Korea when the Korean Armistice was signed on Tuesday July 28, 1953. After twenty years of active Marine Corps service he returned to Monson Massachusetts where he served in the Fleet Marine Corps Reserves for ten years and fully retired from the Marine Corps with over thirty years of faithful and honorable service. He married Fredda (Trudy) Grantham on May 20, 1944 at Parris Island, South Carolina. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans, retired officers association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion Post #133 in Temple. Survivors include his wife, Fredda (Trudy) Klisiewicz of Temple; two sons, Jan Edward Klisiewicz of Hampden, Maine and Steven Alan Klisiewicz of Wilbarham, Massachusetts; three sisters, Jennie Kscascz of Ware Massachusetts, Jeanette Strycharz of Monson, Massachusetts, and Barbara LeDuc of Warwick, New York; three brothers, John Klisiewicz, Frank Klisiewicz, and Raymond Klisiewicz all of Monson, Massachusetts; three grandsons, Jeffery, Nathan, and Matthew. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
