Edward Whitman

Edward Luke Whitman, age 85 of Temple, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 in a local hospital. Private family services will be held at a later date. Mr. Whitman was born on December 11, 1926 in Peoria, IL to the late Charles and Leona Whitman. He attended schools in Peoria. He married Dollie Holmes in 1953 in Walla Walla, WA. Edward served his country in the US Army and the Air Force. He loved writing songs and was a musician with the band "Lukie and the Hitchhikers". Edward enjoyed playing his music at outreach events for homeless people. He and Dollie moved to Temple in 2006 and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Edward loved riding his Harley, and was very well loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a son, Rocky Whitman. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dollie Whitman of Temple; a daughter, Tammy Kaulback and husband Bill of Wellington, CO; sons, Chuck Whitman and wife Wanda of Padroni, CO, Brad Whitman and wife D. of Omaha, NE, Stan Whitman and wife DeeAnna of Sparks, NV, Danny Whitman and wife Shawna of Pedroni, CO and Troy Whitman and wife Teresa of Belton, TX; eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
