
Funeral services for Frances LaNell Avery, 84, of Temple will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Scanio Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Humphrey, Rev Billy Koinm and Rev. Jason Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Avery died Sunday in a Temple hospital. Mrs. Avery was born in Temple to Dee Furl and Inis Allen Furl. She graduated from Temple High School in 1941 and attended Business College. She married Carl E. Avery in 1944. He preceded her in death May 22, 1986. She lived in Temple all of her life. She was a PBX operator for Santa Fe, worked in retail sales at Kress, and worked for Temple ISD for 32 years as the Elementary Secretary for numerous principals. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was active in Prime Time Adults. She was also a member of Easter Star, Degree of Honor Protective Association, had been a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout leader. She was preceded in death by a brother James C. Furl. Survivors include three sons Robert D. Avery of Temple, Charles A. Avery of Temple and Joe D. Avery of Heidenheimer; one daughter Shirley F. Roskey of Temple; one brother Lloyd D. Furl of Temple; one sister Shirley Walker of Ft. Worth; a great aunt Lita Baker of Burnet; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Scanio Harper Funeral Home.
