

George Weldon Hicks Jr., age 84, of Temple, TX passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at a local care center. He was born on April 18, 1930 in Anaconda, MT, the son of George Sr. and Luella Hicks. George was the owner/operator of Hicks Upholstry in Temple, TX, then went on to work in the oil fields for RB Butler. George served his country in the United States Army Air Corps for 16 years, was a member of the Belton American Legion Post #55, the Temple VFW Post #1820, was a Boy Scout leader for many years for Troop #108, and enjoyed putting model ships together. He is survived by his children; Georgia (Kenneth Marek) Pirtle of Buckholts, TX, Loddie (Janet) Hicks of Buckholts, TX, Robyn (Dan) Smith of Belton, TX, Randy (Kim) Evans of Belton, TX, and Michael (Wendi) Evans of Granbury, TX, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, sisters; Dorothy Petersen of Washington, Helen (Bob) Ford of Montana, and Sandra (Carl) Grunloh of Illinois. George is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends from his many years at Weston Inn Health Center in Temple. He is preceded by his wives Wanda Hicks (1975) and Barbara Ann Hicks (2013), a brother Ed Hicks, and his parents George Sr. and Luella. A time of gathering will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5pm-7pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10am at the funeral home followed by an interment at Flint Creek Cemetery in Flat, TX.
