Glen Elwood McKenzie, Sr.

Glen Elwood McKenzie, Sr., age 91 of Temple, died Friday, March 8, 2019 in a local hospital.  A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, March 16th at Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Koinm officiating.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Reed Cemetery near Rogers at a later date.

Mr. McKenzie was born on November 2, 1927 in Rogers to Arzena Parker McKenzie and Ernest Cleveland McKenzie.  He was raised in Rogers along with his eight (8) siblings.

Glen was a military veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Destroyer Escort U.S. Major in the Pacific and was last stationed at Pearl Harbor.  After his discharge, Glen and Patsy Reed Underwood married on July 10, 1948 in Rogers and resided in Temple since 1966.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, sisters (Agnes Pitrucha, Lorene Rachui, Virgie Scott, Emogene Melton) and brothers (Ernest Jr., Charles McKenzie and Eugene McKenzie. 

He is survived by his wife of 70+ years Patsy, youngest brother, Vernon and his wife, Frances; one son, Glen E. McKenzie, Jr. and one daughter Gwen Bennett and her husband, Thomas Ed Bennett, two grandchildren, Jimmy Jay Bennett and wife Miranda, Angela Shaw and her husband, Branden.  He is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Jay Parker, McKenzie and Jayse Bennett; Daniel, Jace, Josh, Hunter, and Harlie Shaw and by his four great-great-grandchildren, Abi and Roeh Bennett and Carter and Walker Rose.
