

Hulon L Farrell passed away after a brief illness early Friday morning, January 9, 2015. Mr. Farrell was born to Corey Peyton Farrell and Melinda Pearl Farrell on May 15, 1921 in Libby, Texas. He grew up in the small community of Heidenheimer, Texas. On June 27, 1942 he married Billie Jean Williams of Rogers, Texas. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage. They were the parents of H.L. Farrell, Jr.(wife, Barbara) of Georgetown, Texas; James Don Farrell,(wife Vickie) of Nocomis, Florida, and Linda Waggoner (husband John) of Round Rock, Texas. They have three grandchildren, Donald Farrell, of Houston Texas, Vicki Strmiska of Taylor, and Bobby Martin of Round Rock, Texas. Five great-grandchildren, Ryan Farrell, Corey Strmiska, Heath Farrell, McKenzie and Knox Martin. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Haynes of Temple, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews & "adopted" children and grandchildren. Mr. Farrell was a member of the "greatest generation" serving in the Army in World War ll. He was wounded in the Normandy Beach Invasion and after several months in the hospital, returned to his Indianhead Division to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. In later life, he was always willing to share some of his war stories with you. Mr. Farrell was predeceased by his wife, his parents, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. He was a lifelong member of the Rogers Church of Christ. He served as an elder of that congregation for 41 years. He lived the Christian life and was loved by many and will be missed by many. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, Texas and funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday at the Rogers Church of Christ in Rogers, Texas with minister Dudley Watson officiating.
