On May 18, 1951 in Houston, TX, Jacquelene married Noel M. Smith. Being an Army wife, she lived in a variety of places before landing in Harker Heights. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, served as President of Officers Wives Clubs in various places, was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Social Order of the Beauceant and life member and past Queen of Marek Temple #104 of the Daughters of the Nile. Her most important job was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jacquelene is survived by her children, Sharlyn Bammel of Spicewood, TX and Noel M. Smith, Jr. of College Station, grandchildren, Brian Bammel and wife Julia of Tomball, TX, Kevin Bammel of Houston, TX, David Bammel and wife Jessica of Spicewood, TX, Jacquelene Smith of Park City, Utah, and Laura Mason and husband Dudley of San Antonio, TX, great-grandchildren Leyton, Evelyn, Catheryn, Adyllie, Dylin, Eliana, Isaac, Brodrick, and Aurelia. She is also survived by her brother George Covert of Sheridan, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Noel M. Smith, Sr. and her parents George and Esther Covert.
