
John Wesley Watts, age 88, of Temple died Monday, March 20, 2006 in a local hospital. Memorial services will be Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Mesa officiating. A Masonic graveside service will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park, Temple, Texas. John was born in Bell County, September 16, 1917 to Annie and A. E. Watts. He attended school at County Line. He married Dorothy Ellen Grimes in Coryell County on September 24, 1938. He served in the U. S. Army in 1943 & 1944 with the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion of the 4th Armored Division in Germany, France, Czechoslovakia & Belgium. He was a faithful member of Oak Park Methodist Church, Temple, TX. His favorite hobby was spending summers camping in Colorado. He was a 50 year member and past Master of Knob Creek Lodge #401, Temple, TX. He was also a member of Knights Templar Commandry, Scottish Rite, and Past Patron of Temple Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He was awarded the Golden Trowel Award from Knob Creek # 401 and the Excalibur Award for outstanding and devoted service to Templar Masonry & Temple Commandry #41 K.T. In addition he received the Cryptic Triange award, Temple Council #187 & Cornerstone Award from Temple, Chapter 199 Royal Arch Masons. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 48th Masonic District in 1982. John is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Temple, son and wife, Wallace & Jean of Flat, son and wife, Bruce & Diana of San Antonio, grandson and wife, Wade and Mary Watts of Flat, grandson, Michael Watts of California, granddaughter and husband, Lori and John Volney of Dallas, Gil and Mandy Kiaha of Oklahoma, and Darnel Kiaha of San Antonio . He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Johnathan and Crystal Watts of Flat, and Andrew Volney of Dallas, Tahnee, Sable, & Pierce Gonzalez and Kai Kiaha of San Antonio and Zachery & Ena Kiaha of Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family request gifts to charity of choice. Pallbearers will be nephews, Gene Watts, Kent Watts, Ralph Watts, Jimmy Dan Watts, Terry Watts and Travis Watts.
