On July 24, 1947, Josephine married Truett Tomlinson in Temple, Texas. Josephine retired after 30 years of dedicated service in the Purchasing and Contracts Division at the VA Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Truett, on January 23, 2009.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Rena Blackstock, and her husband, Paul Blackstock of Temple; her granddaughter, Julie Blackstock of Plano; and her granddaughter, Joya Elam, and her husband, Michael Elam of Denton, along with their two children, Maike (24) and Noah (17). Additional family and friends have been loving companions for many years.
A visitation will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place afterward at Bellwood Memorial.
Josephine’s love for family, compassion for animals, and quiet and admirable strength will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
