

Judith Ann Francis, 64, of Waco died Wednesday December 31, 2008 in a Temple hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held for Mrs. Francis at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waco with the Rev. Dr. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Mrs. Francis was born June 25, 1944 in Fort Worth, the daughter of C.W. and Ocie Witt. Mrs. Francis moved to Houston and graduated from Houston High School. She attended Baylor University where she was a member of the CHI's service organization and she graduated in 1963. She taught at Robinson High School for two years and then returned to Baylor for her graduate degree. She was an English teacher at Baylor University for thirty years. She married the love of her life Dan Francis May 7, 1966. Mrs. Francis was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waco. She had served as an Elder and Deacon at the church. She was a member of the Committee on Ministries for Grace Presbytery. She had enjoyed many years of fellowship with the First Ladies Bible Study at First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Board and the former secretary of Caritas Ministries. Until her illness, she volunteered weekly at the Gospel Cafe. Mrs. Francis was a former sponsor of Baylor Chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and CHI's Service organization. She also was a member of the Development Council of Texas A&M College Veterinary Medicine. Mrs. Francis was preceded in death by her parents C.W. and Ocie Witt. Mrs. Francis is survived by her husband Dan Francis of Waco, a sister Sharon and her husband Gary Lyles of Dallas and their son Craig. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Ann Joseph of Belton, niece Sally Joseph and nephew Earnest Joseph. Mrs. Francis is survived by a very special friend Jerrie Callan of Waco. Also beloved pets Junior and Clyde. The Francis family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Scott & White Oncology in Temple for their wonderful care and support.
