Kenneth Morris Johnson went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 16, 2018. Ken was born to Ken and Ruth (Spencer) Johnson in Missouri Valley, Iowa on September 12, 1944. Ken married the love of his life Jan Johnson on May 25, 1969 in Temple, Texas, and moved to Nebraska to start their life together. In 1976 they returned to Central Texas from Omaha and Ken began working with his father-in-law at Jenkins-Whatley Farm Implement. Ken, ever the entrepreneur, eventually became a partner in the company and renamed it Blackland Implement. Retirement from Blackland wasn’t typical for Ken as he built several successful businesses after retirement. Ken will always be remembered for his quick wit and charm, his ever-present need to fix everything, and most famously, his adoration and love for his family, especially his grandsons. If you were looking for Ken, he’d most likely be tinkering on the farm, or in the woodshop working on FFA projects with the boys. If not on the farm or in the woodshop, he could be found traveling with Jan. Their love of travel took them around the world together. Ken is survived by his wife and best friend Jan Johnson, sons; Kenny and his wife Glenda, Brian and his husband Stephen, and Grant. He leaves behind three adoring grandsons who will miss him dearly, Bo and his wife Candice, Kent, and Blake Johnson. He is also survived by sisters Connie (Ted) Netzel and Charlotte Beardmore along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceeded in death by his sister Sharon Thacker. The visitation is from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, March 20 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, Texas. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, also at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 2pm.
