

Maggie Bell Pierce Haney was born in Santo, Texas on February 11, 1918 to the late Samuel David Pierce and Maggie Bell Pierce. She passed away on August 23, 2016 at the age of 98 years old. She lived in Temple a number of years having moved here to be near family. For the last four years, she was a resident of Park Place Manor in Belton, Texas. On January 11, 1933, she married Carl Thomas Haney in Santo, Texas. Later, they were residents of Mineral Wells, Texas. She was employed in Mineral Wells at Montgomery Wards Company and later became a bank teller at the First National Bank of Mineral Wells. The FNB later became Bank of America. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple. While at Park Place Manor, she especially enjoyed the Sunday morning worship service conducted by the Belton Church of Christ. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Marsha Haney of Temple; three grandchildren, Neil Pierce Haney and wife Delana of Leander, Texas, Angela Haney Parks of Round Rock, Texas and D’Ann Brown Woodle and husband David of Fort Worth, Texas; great grandchildren, Pierce Andrew Miller of College Station, Texas, Shelby Renee Haney, a student at Bimidji State University in Minnesota, Ashley Elizabeth Haney and Reid Alexander Haney, both of Leander, Leigh Gernsbacher and Jordan Gernsbacher, both of Dallas, Matthew Shipley and Shannon Shipley Scala, both of Fort Worth, and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Thomas Haney; a step-daughter, Mae Brown of Fort Worth and by a granddaughter, Toni Lynn Brown Gernsbacher of Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00pm Saturday at Santo North Cemetery in Santo, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00pm Friday, August 26, 2016 at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to Scott & White McLane Children’s Hospital, Temple, Texas.
