Margaret Elizabeth (Peggy) Thompson, 84, of Temple, Texas, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Floca Pavilion of Hillcrest Cemetery, with Rev. Margaret Boles officiating. Mrs. Thompson was born July 20, 1921 in Texas City, Texas to Vincent and Margaret Davison Grainger. She attended Julliard School of Music in New York and then received her BS degree in education from Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton. She taught elementary school in Detroit, Houston, and the Panama Canal Zone for ten years. She then taught special education in the Temple ISD for 10 years. She married John Q. Thompson of Troy, Texas, July 15, 1945 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by a son Loyd W. Thompson in October of 1978. Survivors include her husband Dr. John Q. Thompson, Sr of Temple; two sons, Dr. John Q. Thompson, Jr. of Temple and Richard V. Thompson of Coppell, Texas; one daughter, Susan T. Lanford of Temple; one sister, Eleanor Grainger of Houston; five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Temple, 12 W. French Ave, Temple, Texas 76501.
