Marie was born on April 3, 1938, in Palacios, Texas, to L. D. and Beatrice (Ellis) McCollum. She was raised in Texas and lived in Austin before making Temple her home in the 1960s, where she spent the majority of her life.
She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found great joy in gardening, watching, and listening to birds, camping, and hiking. These simple pleasures reflected her gentle spirit and love of nature. Marie loved the Lord and spent time with many women sharing her faith and Bible truths.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Beth Eakin.
Marie is survived by her daughter Lura Lee Ellis and husband James; her granddaughter, Rachael K. Kacer; and her great-grandson, Eivan Kacer, who will continue to honor her memory.
Marie was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
