Mark Alexander Holt

Mark Alexander Holt, age 89 of Holland, died Monday, December 28, 2015 in a local care center. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 30th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Rev. Judy Gotcher officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.   Mr. Holt was born October 7, 1926 in the Center Community near Kinnard, Texas in Houston County to Albert Alton Holt and Willie Adell Morgan Holt. He graduated from Trent High School in 1946. He attended Abilene McMurry College, Kingsville Texas A & I and Hardin Simmons University. He had a love of the land when he started farming at an early age. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He taught school in the Point Isabel ISD in Port Isabel, Texas for 27 years retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of American Legion.   He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothae Bishop and a brother, Horace Alton Holt. Survivors include his wife, Donna Ruth Sanders Holt of Holland, one son, Ryan Mason Holt and wife, Maddi of the U. S. Army, two stepsons, Vernon Wayne Wooddell, Henry Samuel Wooddell and wife, Traci and one stepdaughter, Anna Lois Patterson and husband, Bob all of Temple and six grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine Bishop of Trent and Jewel Henager of Robinson.   Donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
