Marsha Jane Smith

Marsha Jane Smith, age 85, of Temple, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at her home with her loving family at her bedside. She was born on February 14, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of Kenneth Pruitt and Ieva Maurice (Elliff) Roberts.

A visitation will take place on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:00am at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, Texas.

Marsha attended Oklahoma State University and went to work as a lobbyist in Austin for the State of Texas retiring after many years. On July 11, 1992 in Harker Heights, Texas she married Jacob A. Smith. She enjoyed square dancing and held many different positions with several organizations within the Texas Federation of Round and Square Dancers, was a former member of the Bryan-College Station Garden club and Temple Garden Club where she was also former president, and was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church in Temple. Most of all, Marsha enjoyed spending time with her loving family in which their time together meant the world to her.

She is survived by her husband Jacob A. Smith of Temple, her son John Robert Pickens of Temple, grandchildren, Christina Jane Johnson and husband Mitchell, Sr. of Temple, Kathleen Elizabeth Maxwell of Temple Sarah Melissa Kerbow of Temple, and Layne Daniel Pickens and wife Chloe of Dallas, 12 great-grandchildren, Joshua Brian, Megan Elizabeth, Lauren Alyssa, Melanie Kate, Kayleigh Grace, Jacob Anthony, Mitchell Bodair, Caleb Joseph, Carlie Rae, Jayden James, Matthew Kyler, and Gracelynn Jane, and 6 great-grandchildren, Rosalina Elizabeth, Sophia Jane, Ramón Luis, Miguel Andrés, Harper Elizabeth, and Claire Hadley.

Marsha was preceded in death by her daughter Jane Elizabeth Pickens and her parents.
