

Martha Willis Cole left this world peacefully in her sleep on December 2, 2008. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4th from 6 -7 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Memorial graveside services will be at Bellwood Memorial Park Pavilion on Friday, December 5th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bert DeBord III officiating. Martha was born on April 14, 1931 in Temple to Richard Bruce and Dama Perle Willis. She was a member of the Seventh Street Methodist Church. After attending Temple schools, she received her associate of arts degree from Temple Junior College. She had an outstanding career as a medical transcriptionist working at local hospitals as well as hospitals in Dallas and Austin. Her passions in life included equestrian horse back riding, watching U.T. football, and golf. Martha's claim to fame were two holes-in-one, one at Greenbriar and one at Brookhaven in Dallas. Retiring in 1999, she devoted her life to full time care giving to her late husband, Will I Cole, who was the love of her life. If you knew Martha, or as she was known by her family as Goppy, you would know how devoted she was to all her friends and family. She worked tirelessly as a caregiver/companion to the people she regarded as her best friends. Her life revolved around them and her grandchildren, Colby and Shelby White. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and her husband. She is survived by a very special sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Gover of Pendleton, her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and George White of Temple, and her two grandchildren, Colby White of Temple, and Shelby White of Austin along with many nieces and nephews Memorials can be made to Temple Lions Club Charities, P.
